Mountain West Rail Banners
Do those banner images at the top and bottom of every page move a little too fast for you to really peruse?  How about the location of  that shot?  Well, I created this page just for you.  Below, I have listed the location and railroad where each shot was taken.  These shots will periodically change but you'll probably notice that when looking at other pages.  Enjoy.

The ML or M-MISLAU1-26 climbs the west side of Winston Hill near Louisville, MT behind four Montana Rail Link units on December 26, 2002.

An eastbound, empty BNSF grain train departs Big Timber, MT on MRL's main line.  Those are the snow capped Crazy Mountains in the background of this December 24, 2002 photo.

An empty Alaska Railroad coal train, led by ARR 2801, is ready to depart Seward, Alaska on an overcast morning of July 2000.

C-BKMSPB1-12 descends the west side of Parkman Hill with the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming in the background.  This westbound loaded coal train originated at Buckskin Mine north of Gillette, WY and will be interchanged to the UP at Spokane, WA after traveling across the MRL.

Union Pacific Engineering Special #5 has just left Bond, Colorado behind UP 6936 on October 17, 2000.

CP 9520 East leads train 992 towards the continental divide near Partridge, B.C. on June 2, 2001.  Trailing are CP 3019, 9602, 6067, and 1525.  This location is east of CP's famous Spiral Tunnels.

MRL's westbound Day Gas Local crosses the Marent Trestle on it's climb of Evaro Hill on December 28, 2002.

The Z-CHCSSE8-05 glides through Johnson's Curve west of Belton, MT on October 7, 2001.  The Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park stretches out behind the train.

The ZDVRO-15 climbs out of the Colorado River Valley west of Cisco, UT on December 15, 2000 behind two "winged" SD70Ms.

EMD 9008 East rolls through the siding at Arno, WY on January 19, 2003.  This empty coal train was heading towards the Powder River Basin near Gillette for another load of coal for a customer in the upper Midwest.

Five DRGW SD40T-2s roar by Colton, Utah on the MDVRO on May 6, 2000.  The helper set was added in Helper and continued on with the train all the way over Soldier Summit to Castilla.

SP&S 700 leads a Rocky Mountain Rail Tours passenger train across a bridge near Noxon, Montana on October 12, 2002.  See more from Montana by Steam.
